Easter Egg Hunt and first day at the Pond 2013

Lindy Lou got to go to her VERY first Easter Egg hunt.
Look Mama I found an egg.

Clayton, Kristyn and the 8 to 10 year old egg hunters extraordinaire.

Braden and some of the 6 & 7 year old hunters.
Just snoozin.  Oh how I love it outside.

Checking out the stash.
A friend of ours I think the caption should say "Come one dad they are mine".
This picture was take 3 1/2 seconds after they said GO.

Braden was SUPER HUNTER (said with a radio announcer voice).  Actually he had already turned in his eggs and this was the collection bucket.
Yeah Clayton a basket winner.
Braden and his BIG blue bunny.
Clayton had a tree, a cross, a bunny.
Here is Kristyn with her winning drawing.  HE HAS RISEN!

Leaving notes in front of Grandma Martha's store.

Then we went to the pond for a little fishing and sitting by the fire.  Oh we roasted some hot dogs too.

Wish I could say this is the fish we caught, BUT actually these are my brother in laws.  They did catch several crappe and a cat fish.  Can we say fish fry for Easter dinner.

And this was mom's favorite.  HOT DOGS roasted at the pond.   MMMMMMMM.  Just a good way to spend our day.

Jelly Bean Prayer

This may be just a little silly but it speaks volumes.

Praying we all remember the real reason for the Easter season.

THE EMPTY CROSS

One day it bore a grievous burden
Sins of all mankind-too great to bear
The weight so heavy-pain and anguish
Our Savior carried for us there.

That day the earth and heavens trembled
The temple veil rent-the door flung wide.
Mankind was given choice of life eternal
That awful day our Lord was crucified.

His enemies thought that they had triumphed
That they had slain a man-a victory
It was a time of empty boasting
He GAVE His life upon that tree.

We need no one to intercede for us
He paid for our redemption on that day
He is the door - the truth - the word - the all
He is the one - the only living way.

How marvelous that Death has conquered sin
Christ gave His all-'twas gain.  'Twas never loss
Our glorious promise is forevermore.
Look up!  Triumphant - at THE EMPTY CROSS.

Baby ducky your the one, you make bathtime so much fun.

I wanted some ducks on the pond again this summer.  So Brad and Joe headed to Rural King to get something else and Brad MADE Joe buy me some ducks.  The young lady from Rural King made him buy 6.  (He was thrilled)  The ducks are residing at Brad's and will be moved to the pond when they are big enough.

So last night they boys took a bath and when they were done the baby ducks got the opportunity to take a swim.  Wish I knew how to put music with this little video.  The Rubber Ducky song is just running through my head this morning.

Cooking lessons and spoiling my neice and great nephew

Coartney was always a sporty kind of girl.  Was playing ball or working with her 4H animals.  Didn't spend much time in the kitchen.  Sooo Aunt Kak is challenging her to learn to cook.  Her husband is so excited about it too.

Meal #2 Sloppy Joe's,  tator tots and steamed veggies.
Oh she made an apple pie too.

Jarrett wasn't real big on the carrots.
We're making her a cookbook so she'll have lots of meals she can make by the time John is home from Afghanistan.
Meal #1 was spaghetti and garlic bread.
Next week pork chops.  MMMMMM

Weekend by the pool

After skipping a few years we have started up our family tradition again.  We rent a block of rooms at a local motel and stay for the weekend.  This year we went to the Day's Inn in Mattoon.  It's newly remodeled and really nice and the room rate was very affordable too.  The whole family goes.  The little ones got to invite a friend this year.  So there was lots of running, laughing, playing and swimming.
Braden and his friend Braxton coloring in their big color books.
Braxton, Braden, Clayton, Kristyn & Hannah.  (Clayton's friend Cole wasn't able to make it.)

Baby Lindy Lou had a wonderful time too.  Got to meet several of her cousins for the first time.

3 weeks old and I swear she is starting to smile.
And the breakfast of champions = fruit loops
Grandpa Joe and Grandpa Bob having a little coffee with the Chris and girls.
Linda checking out pictures on Coartney's Ipad.  Clint's friend Kaitlyn watching the swimmers.  Actually probably making sure she doesn't get splashed.
Grandma Dorothy, Patty, Ronnie and Joe playing a VERY competitive game a Euchre.  I think Dorothy only lost 1 game all weekend.  She was still playing cards with the boys when I went to bed.
Grandpa Cliff and Jarrett James either getting out or getting back in the pool.  Had to keep an eye on this little guy, he's fearless.

Just talked to Jeri and Sarah.  Jeri was napping, she said she told the girls to go to sleep at 1 this morning.  Sarah said they were having supper.  She said the boys took a nap when they got home.  They are all talking about next year.
