Memories:
Sitting on Grandma's lap having her read our favorite poem.
"Who's so late at the garden gate Kathy, Linda or Ron."
All the fun times with cousins at Grandma & Grandpa's. Corncob fights in the haymow (even though we knew we weren't supposed to be up there). Nelson steeling my shoes and climbing the tree like a monkey.
Jake the dog that could climb a tree. Lum. All those granny gowns and western shirts, made with love. Knitted hats. Doorknobs! All those stories. Oil paintings, poems, family histories. The Grand Marshall of the Ashmore parade. The igloo we made at Thanksgiving one year. The year we stayed all night at their house for Christmas. I got up real early and Grandpa told me I could go pick one of my presents and bring it back to their bed until it was time to get up, I picked a barbie. The 3' tall dolls.
Some of us got her love for reading, some are artistic. Some are great writers or poets. Some have the gift of gab. Some of us got the clever wit she always shared. Some of us even inherited the "packrat" tendancies (that's me). Anyway I'm sure each and everyone of us can find something we share in common with Grandma. Love you & miss you. Granddaughter #2.
EXAMPLE OF FAITH
Small in stature
Big in heart
Grandma Coartney
You're so smart.
Strong in faith
You've forged a trail
That lights the way
So none will fail.
Your Bible as the path
And faith as the light
You've shown us by example
So we've all been able to take flight
Your heart filled with love
Showing us the way
The paths always bright
Because you taught us to pray
Some have flown far
And some stayed near
But you Grandma Coartney
We all hold so very dear.
Love you Grandma,
Kathy
