Spring 2011

Clayton had a musical program at school on April 8th.  It was titled
"My Favorite Things"
Clayton being one of the tallest in his class was in the back row.

Of course this proud grandma was sitting in the crowd to watch and listen.

Pictures from Jeri & Chris' fire at their business

On April Fools day Jeri & Chris' business burned to the ground.  At about 5:30am a neighbor pulled
up in front of their house and started honking his horn.  They were wondering what in the world was going on.  (Thank you JD)  They got up and Chris went to get the fire truck since he's on the fire department.  Another neighbor had called 911.  Jeri ran Kristyn over to Chris' brothers house and she said "I just shoved her in the back door and said here"  She called me to let me know so I got dressed and headed over.  She said the barn was gone when they got up.  Just as they ran out the back door of their house the windows blew out from the heat.  As you can see their house is VERY close to the barn but Chis had built this barn very well and thanks to the Hindsboro fire department their house was unharmed.
Absolutely was the Lords hand in that.

Chris is going to set up shop in his brothers barn/garage until he gets something built.  Please pray for them as they go through all this.  I'm sure it will be very trying at times to get all the receipts and estimates they need for insurance.  And then the rebuilding will begin.

Kristyn wrote her dad the sweetest note this morning telling him how she worried about him and his job.  Kristyn had some of her toys in the barn like her bike.  We thought it was gone but low and behold they found it and the only thing that needs replaced is the seat.  Kind of hard to believe that it survived after all that heat.

Catching up

This is what happens when you drop an old, old bridge into the water.  You CAN'T GET IT OUT!
This is the Harrison Street bridge that we all rode over when we got to stay all night
at Grandma & Grandpa Coartney's house.  This was on our way to town.

After a couple day's of trying they finally got it out of the water without losing any
machinery.  It was really sad to see it go but it really wasn't safe.

Doug and Mary  Jo Coartney had a farm sale and our church supplied the concession stand.
We really had a great time and the money we made was our starter fund for the new
"Weinie Wagon" we just ordered.   Our old one was leaving pieces all along the road
on the way over and back.

Our church has a "guess who's coming to supper" once a year.  It's really pretty fun.  The host and hostess volunteer to have supper at their house.  All they know is how many will show up.  They supply the meat and drink for the meal.  Everyone else brings something for the meal.  They get a call at around 5:30 to tell them where they are going so that is when the find out where they are going but they still don't know who else will be there until everyone shows up.  It's really a fun evening.
