A Victorian Christmas.

The Museum in Oakland that i'm involved with had an event over the weekend.  A Christmas display "A Victorian Christmas".   Here are a few pictures of the event and our interpreters.

Clayton Playing marbles a popular children's game in the 1850's.

Erin and Elijah stringing popcorn and cranberries and putting cloves in oranges.

Little Constance figuring out just exactly what a modern day heat vent is for.

Caronline and Jane checking the guest book.

Rebecca putting the last touches on the Christmas tree.  She did a fantastic job decorating the house for the Victorian era.

And here I am rocking and watching the young lad play marbles.

Sarah and Kristyn had been upstairs reading bedtime stories.  Mother Goose stories to be exact but it was awfully cold up there so she took a break to come down where it was a little warmer.  By the way doesn't Sarah's dress look fantastic.  She made it.

Here's a better view of my dress.  I made it.  I told everyone that if you went to the fabric store and found the ugliest curtain fabric it would make a beautiful antique dress.

Kristyn in her flannel gown that I made.  It was about 4 inches too short when I got it done so I added a ruffle.  Made me think of the flannel gown's that Grandma Coartney made for her granddaughters every year for Christmas.  And yes we loved them.

We really had a nice day.  Merry Christmas.
