Amy & Bryan Dunn's son gave this to my dad. It is a story he wrote at school about "My all-time favorite
place". He wrote about Hawkins Pond.
This story started several years ago, about 47 to be exact. My parents and the Dunn kids parents met over the CB radio's. This is a picture of the first time they came down. You guessed it we went to the pond, forever known as "Hawkins Pond". We camped every weekend at the pond for several years while we were growing up. Lots of good memories and lots of fun. Camp fires, hotdogs, swimming, fishing, marshmallow fights (those things really hurt especially when they are wet). Lyle losing his teeth in the pond, never to be found, even after we looked for them ont he bottom of the pond for hours. Gum in the fire (ask Linda and Arlie about that one). Mud fights. Glub,Glub was the key when they were crossing the river and getting close to the camp site.

Back Row L-R Bryan Dunn 5, Ronnie Hawkins 3, Kathy Hawkins Pardi 5, Lyle Dunn 3, Mark Dunn 7
And now Bryan and Amy's son is telling my dad about his most favorite place on earth. How fitting. This is where he wants to celebrate his birthday every year.
My own grandkids are finding out the joys of camping at the pond. More memories to be made. Stop by if you see the flag up we'll be there. You can cook a hot dog.

Love this blog...we used to camp all the time. I miss it.
Never had a marshmellow fight- anything like a rotten cucumber fight?
Love the picture and story. You know you are doing something right when they write about it in school.
